Miss Rosie Nicholas
Reception Teacher
BA (Hons) Child Psychology Post Graduate Certificate in Education, United Kingdom
Briefly describe your career (teaching or otherwise) to date.
Before moving to Kennedy House, I spent 2 years teaching in the UK. I began as a cover teacher and enjoyed teaching every year group from Year R to 6. Before teaching, I worked in a variety of educational settings such as a Forest School and a Montessori Nursery. I spent many years as a nanny to children of a variety of ages, a role I very much enjoyed.

Why did you choose teaching as a career and what do you try to instil in your pupils?
I have always been passionate about working with children and it was a natural choice for me to choose teaching as my career. Nannying and the Early Childhood Studies degree I undertook informs my teaching every day. I hope to instil a love of learning in the children I teach, a confidence in themselves and the knowledge that they are able to achieve anything they put their minds to. Teaching is incredibly rewarding and no two days are the same!

Apart from your classroom teaching role, what else do you get involved with at the school?
I am very pleased to help coach various sports.

In your opinion, what makes Kennedy House special?
Kennedy House is a very special school. There is a real family feel which makes all feel welcome. This is reflected in how happily the children arrive each day. The children are polite and considerate with a real thirst for learning. It is exciting to be part of a school in which opportunities are given to shine in and out of the classroom.

Who or what inspires you?
I had the most wonderful teacher at my prep school. Her kindness, understanding and patience made her an inspiring teacher. Her teaching inspires my teaching.

Tell us something that not a lot of people know about you.
I very much enjoy challenging myself, I was lucky to have the opportunity to trek to Everest Base Camp. It was a thrilling experience.
