Ms Giveness Lyaro

Swahili Teacher

Masters English Language Education, Tanzania

Briefly describe your career (teaching or otherwise) to date.

I was fresh from University of Tumaini and have experience in teaching from teaching practice in two secondary schools. I also spent 3 months volunteering at Kyamboga University in Uganda.

Why did you choose teaching as a career and what do you try to instil in your pupils?

The reasons why I chose teaching as my career is because through teaching I can inspire a child to love learning second language and be able to use it when needed. I try to instill a love for learning, good manners and effective oral and written communication.

Apart from your classroom teaching role, what else do you get involved with at the school?

Apart from teaching I also have excellent organizational skills so I spend time in the library organising this. I love to design and put things in good order.

In your opinion, what makes Kennedy House special?

What makes Kennedy House special are the incredible students, parents and staff who bring it to life each day. Their energy, love, and passion are infectious and I am so grateful for all they do to make the learning environment smooth.

Who or what inspires you?

My sisters. The love and joy to speak English and teach people literature. Dedicated colleagues.

Tell us something that not a lot of people know about you.

I love dancing and singing and I was once a part of a church choir.
