Mrs Mercy Machuwe
Year 2 Teacher
B.Sc Psychology, Diploma in Education; Zimbabwe
Briefly describe your career (teaching or otherwise) to date.
I started my teaching career more than 20 years ago. During the first 10 years of my career, I had the opportunity to work in different settings from the most rural areas, the national rehabilitation center for children to the Inner-City schools in Zimbabwe. In 2017, I moved to Isamilo International school in Mwanza and worked there for four years before then joining Kennedy House.

Why did you choose teaching as a career and what do you try to instil in your pupils?
I became a teacher because I enjoy being around children and I am passionate about helping students achieve their full potential. I want to instill self-confidence and show my students that they are capable of achieving anything they set their minds to.
Apart from your classroom teaching role, what else do you get involved with at the school?
I take Home Economics, Aerobics, Athletics and assist in the school productions.
In your opinion, what makes Kennedy House special?
The outstanding rural setting and the facilities, the teacher to pupil ratio that makes it possible for every learner’s needs to be fully catered for, the child friendly environment and the dedicated staff.
Who or what inspires you?
All the people who have had a positive impact in my life including my family and students.

Tell us something that not a lot of people know about you.
