Kennedy House International School is situated on a 20 acre campus within a beautifully picturesque part of northern Tanzania. On a clear day, there are spectacular views of both Mt. Meru and Mt. Kilimanjaro and it is not rare for impromptu art lessons to take place so students can take advantage of these unmissable views. The school is surrounded by avocado trees and our field frequently plays host to a variety of bird and wildlife such as ibis, herons, hornbills and egrets.
In 2015 we were very proud to unveil our brand new 25m, competition-standard 6-lane swimming pool. Our swimming pool is a real eye-catcher, and is beautifully maintained and complimented by spectacular views of the surrounding landscape. Kennedy House International School swimming galas are a much-anticipated local event and our swimming facilities have made us the envy of other international schools in the area.
Sport is an important part of the education that we offer at Kennedy House and our sports facilities provide our children with the opportunity to enjoy a wide variety of sports. Our expansive playing fields are used for cricket, hockey, rugby, football, rounders and athletics and we have recently installed hard-court tennis and netball courts. We also have 3 cricket nets and a 1km cross-country track within the school grounds. Our longer cross-country routes are nestled into the beautiful surrounding avocado fields.
At Kennedy House International School we believe in having a healthy balance between work and play. As such, we have invested in some excellent playground equipment which help to keep our children healthy, active and creative. Our facilities include swings, a see-saw, sandpits, a wendy house, a sunken trampoline and a custom-built jungle-gym (which also doubles as a castle/pirate ship/rocket). All of our playground facilities are used under teacher-supervision. We have a new designated play area specifically designed for our Early Years, which encourages free play and a love of the outdoors.
Our school believes in a holistic education where the arts and sciences are treated with equal reverence. To facilitate this, we have constructed a dedicated music suite replete with a mixture of traditional African instruments and cutting-edge technology. Music lessons at Kennedy House International School are designed to be as inclusive and eclectic as possible and our children have the opportunity to pursue private lessons in guitar, flute, piano and singing.
Science is a field which is constantly developing and evolving and as such, it is important to maintain a laboratory which is up-to-date and relevant to the kind of science being performed today. The spacious laboratory at Kennedy House International School is equipped with modern technology such as video microscopes and an interactive whiteboard which allow for inspiring, inventive and immersive lessons.
We believe that literacy is one of the most important subjects and our newly built library is now a favourite learning space in our school. Spacious, light, with ample shelves, a dedicated early years 'cave', relaxing mezzanine level as well as desk space for integrated lessons, including ICT. We are very lucky to have such a fantastic library.
